Biography

Brett Savoie's group develops physics-based and AI-enabled methods to model and design quantum materials. Much of this work targets emerging low-dimensional materials, including two-dimensional perovskite quantum wells, perovskite nanowire lasers, and radical polymers for organic spintronics, with collaborative results in Nature and Science. The group's machine learning work spans materials property prediction, generative design, and automated reaction discovery, and Professor Savoie directs Notre Dame's Scientific Artificial Intelligence Initiative. Savoie holds B.S. degrees in chemistry and physics from Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. in theoretical chemistry from Northwestern University. Honors include NSF CAREER, ONR Young Investigator, and Dreyfus Foundation machine learning awards.
