Biography

Gregory Hartland is a Collegiate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Notre Dame Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. In his research, Professor Hartland focuses on using optics to examine the properties of nanomaterials and how these materials interact with their environments. Almost all of the projects in his research group involve single particle studies, and the development of novel techniques to perform time-resolved and steady state spectroscopy experiments on single particles is a major component of the research. Professor Hartland received a B. Sc. (Hons.) degree from The University of Melbourne, Australia and a Ph. D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles.
